The LinkMASSter system is a software acquisition device made for seizing data from computers that cannot be opened in the field. You can perform high-speed data transfer between any suspect hard disk drives through the computer's FireWire or USB 1.1/2.0 port. Supports MD5, SHA1 and CRC32 hashing during and after the acquisition. A bootable CD is supplied to boot the suspect's computer and run the LinkMASSter acquisition program.

Captures any Operating System
The unit will capture any and all suspect operating systems and partitions. The unit guarantees an exact bit for bit copy of all data stored on a suspect drive including deleted files, free space, and file slack.

Suspect Operating System
Independent of the suspect's operating system. Boot the suspect PC/Notebook from LinkMASSter diskettes or from CD without booting from the suspect local hard drive.

Data Transfer Rate
Transfer rate up to 1.5 GB/Min depending on the interface used and the suspect notebook/PC performances.

Hard-Drive Duplication
The unit will capture any suspect drives detected including IDE, EIDE, UDMA. (SCSI and Serial ATA coming soon)

Software Features:

Capture Data Methods
Captures data from suspect's hard drive in Single Capture mode, Multi Capture mode, Image compression mode (Forensic Tool Kit, EnCase, Unix-DD).

Hashing Methods
Hashes the suspect's hard drive data with SHA1, MD5, or CRC32.

Record Information
Records case and investigator information.

Wipe Out
Sanitizes the external hard drive: wipe out DOD specification, wipe out user-defined pattern, or wipe out remainder of the drive after capturing data.

Preview information
Previews suspect's hard drive and partition information.

Hard-Copy Reporting
Print an Audit trail report to serial port using SiPix thermal printer. Support for generic parallel printers is coming soon.

Saving Acquisition Information
Save Audit Trail and Case Information to diskette or compact flash card.

Suspect System Requirements:

Using Bootable CD
The suspect PC/Notebook must have a Pentium or compatible processor, 64 MB of RAM, a CD-ROM drive, and BIOS support to boot from CD.

Using Bootable Diskettes
The suspect PC/Notebook must have a Pentium or compatible processor (some old non Pentium system may also work), 32MB of RAM, a floppy drive and BIOS support to boot from diskette.

BIOS Password Protection
The LinkMASSter unit cannot operate if there is any kind of BIOS boot-up password protection and the correct password is not entered by the investigator.
